Is fantastic!!
I've only had access to it for a couple of days and already, I'm discovering some amazing things about it.
Like the fact that it's the longest duration of all the cloak fields, which in itself is great, but what it allows me to do is the trick.
Just today, I got caught out by someone and just got away barely in time, switched to the cloak and ducked around the back of one of those water tower things the snipers like so much.
As soon as I got out of sight of my pursuer, I just stopped dead still, testing something I'd seen before as well as heard - that you can only see a cloaked scout from the shimmer as they run - but standing still they seem almost invisible. I just stood there. As all his mates joined the search, running around and around looking for me, they seemed to be everywhere. But they didn't see me, and when they were finally gone, I took my escape.
The Ishukone Cloak Field gave me enough time cloaked for a search team to look franticly for me, practically right at me at one point, missed me entirely, and then I escaped unscathed. The Ishukone Cloak Field also drops your profile down 10% from normal. This plus the long cycle time means I lived to harrass them further... ;) |

While it is true that you are less visible while not moving, many experienced players already know what to look for and will most of the time (at least in my case) spot you and kill you. Also, just hovering over someone still brings up the red crosshairs indicating an enemy is there. In some cases it's useful, like yours, but many times you might a counter the opposite. Reasonable assumption, but I'm almost certain these guys were pros. They moved like they were coordinated, and there were four of them - a squad, by the looks of it. I won't disclose exactly what I did to stay hidden, because I don't want people discovering this trick, and yes, you are correct, just hovering over someone with the crosshairs will discover them. What I was talking about was the fact that the Ishukone Cloak Field allows you to stay stationary for a very long time. As long as you're not detected, this can be very helpful. |

I have never been able to have the crosshairs go red when over a cloaked player. Even actually hitting them by guessing doesn't do it. It seems it does appear belatedly which I expected as usual due to the lag delay of things loading. It is the same as players popping up on a passive scan. They just don't register until too close, then it's the same as if you didn't have the extra scan ability anyway. God please let the server lag be less in the new game. I'd like to regularly experience what I have only periodically experienced in DUST; that magic time when I can actually stay on top of opponents because I'm the one with no lag and I get to watch them stand there for a whole second as I unload on them and then they die just as they register being hit. I will get the money to put together that $600 PC if this game is worth it. I hope Valkyrie can succeed too and be able to be played non-VR. There is network lag which will never be able to be reduced, simply due to the distances between you and your target and the server. The total of both distances factors into it. The number of times I've died because of lag is uncountable. If you see a target round a corner and see you, they will take you out because they actually rounded that corner a second or two earlier, you just didn't find out about it until now. All that time they will have been shooting at you and unless they're awful shots will kill you before you even know they're there. |
